Last days of summer…

August 27th, 2009 by Admin

Where did the time go? We’re in the final days of August, enjoying the cool nights and early morning fog in the Blue Ridge. School has begun again and the birds are beginning to fly south.

We’re preparing for a busy fall season at Copper Hill Retreat. There are some special events planned and reservations for our first floor apartment for overnight lodging are available. The apartment has a plush queen size futon bed and singles, sleeping up to 4. If you’re traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway, we’re glad to have you stop for a night or longer… Single night rentals are $125 +tax and weekend packages start at $200 +tax for Friday and Saturday night stays.

Ecolodging for Blue Ridge Parkway travelers

July 22nd, 2009 by Admin

This is a beautiful time of year in southwestern Virginia. The mountains are bright green and the air is cool most days. Travelers along the Blue Ridge Parkway are treated to glorious vistas around each turn. There are communities along the route that are packed with hidden treasures and fabulous food and drink.

In our neck of the woods here in Floyd County, this weekend (July 23-26) provides all of the above plus more music than most regions have in a year… It’s Floyd Fest! The annual music festival is in its eighth year, calling this year Revival. With over 50 bands in the Performers Lineup including Blues Traveler and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals plus the Under the Radar Series with even more talent, this year will be one to remember. There will be local crafts, food and drink, a healing arts village, the “Children’s Universe” and so much more…

Our ecolodge apartment is already spoken for this weekend, but if you’re looking for lodging for next year, please consider making your reservations now. We’ll have the entire lodge available (sleeps 6 upstairs + 4 downstairs) plus primitive camping on our property. Contact us for details (info@copperhillretreat.com) or check back here as we continue updating our site.view from the pond

Enjoy your summer adventures and we hope to see you soon!

Welcome to Copper Hill Retreat.

You’ve reached a soft place, a natural moment in time where you can take a breath of fresh air, watch the wind blow through the trees, touch the cool surface of a rock and experience our naturally powerful setting.

Copper Hill Retreat is a 20+ acre property with an ecolodge, nature trails and a stocked pond.  The ecolodge is constructed of cord wood, straw bales, steel, glass and rock.  Inside the ecolodge are tile floors with radiant heat, a gas log fireplace in the center of the great room,  and reconditioned furnishing such as an upholstered church pew and upright piano.  Every detail, from the concrete kitchen countertops colored with coffee grounds to the ceilings sandpainted with glittering touches, have been specifically included by visionary & creator Carol Ann Garrett.

This site is devoted to sharing the happenings at Copper Hill Retreat.  Visit here to learn more about us, our programs and our facility, what’s coming up in events in the next few months and how you can bring some green into your life.
